The Party and Government always pay special care to education-training and the great national unity bloc, with investment priority given to developing education in the extremely disadvantaged localities and ethnic minority areas, the Deputy PM said.

He praised the teachers’ efforts in overcoming difficulties and sticking with students in disadvantaged areas, asking them to constantly improve their professional knowledge and pedagogical skills to successfully complete the mission of “cultivating the people”.

Particularly, the exemplary ethnic minority teachers should effectively implement the work of encouraging ethnic minority students to go to school and reducing early school leaving, thus improving the intellectual level of ethnic minority communities and contributing to socio-economic development of localities and the country, Deputy PM Dam noted.

He proposed the idea of launching the “Five Wishes” movement to mobilise the whole society to focus on implementation, including installing the solar power system, enhancing coverage of phone signal, supporting students with lunches, providing books and learning aids in ethnic languages, and building toilets for students and teachers at schools in remote, isolated and ethnic minority areas in order to resolve difficulties in teaching and learning.

The Deputy Prime asked the Vietnam Youth Federation, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Government Committee on Ethnic Minority Affairs, ministries, sectors, organisations and individuals to offer continued support for students and teachers in remote, isolated and disadvantaged areas through specific and pragmatic activities.

The exemplary ethnic minority teachers are in Hanoi to attend the programme “Sharing with Teachers”, jointly organised by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Federation, the Ministry of Education and Training, units and businesses to recognise and honour the enduring devotion of teachers who are working with ethnic minority students in remote areas across the country, on the occasion of the Vietnamese Teachers’ Day (November 20).
