BTO – On March 19th afternoon, vice chairman of the provincial People’s committee Pham Van Nam chaired over a meeting with the Department of Planning and investment on the project of planting fruit-tree in combination with ecotourism exploitation in Long Song Lake to the west (Phong Phu commune, Tuy Phong district). The project is invested by Binh Thuan Farmhouse Co., ltd.

According to the Department of Investment and Planning, the investment project shall cover a total area ò 73.71 ha. It is divided into 2 phrases, from 2017 to 2022 for the first one, and from 2022 onwards for the latter phrase.

In its first phrase, the investor shall plant and take care of fruit trees on the area of 51.23 ha (land without jungle). Some new trees will be planted in parallel with the current fruit trees in the projected-land; the other area of 22.48 ha of natural forest is protected. For the second phrase, the investor shall transfer the land-use-purpose to build constructions to cater ecotourism services.

At the meeting, a lot of opinions in terms of land-use-purposes and Long Song lake boundary regulations, etc. were raised.

Addressing the meeting, Vice chairman Pham Van Nam assigned the Department of Investment and Planning to review the project and report to the PPC. He stressed the area of natural forest should be localized carefully before handing over to the investor for protection. He suggests allocating the land without forest to the investor first. Mr. Nam urged the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to inventory the number of forest trees which belong to the project for tightly scrutiny. Besides, the Investor has responsibilities to contact functional authorities and agencies to complete project’s procedures pursuant to the Law.
