Binh Thuan to link up with nationwide provinces and cities for boosting dragon fruit consumption domestically

BTO-  Department of Industry &Trade of Binh Thuan province lately issued a document to suggest its counterparts of other provinces/cities to give support in propaganda and creating network on dragon fruit consumption in the face of Covid-19 pandemic’s impact.

The document also provides information on dragon fruit production facilities in Binh Thuan to facilitate trade promotion.  Accordingly, localities are expected to boost propaganda on dragon fruit and connect consumption networks through distribution channels, supermarkets, trade centers, etc. Functional units will directly contact dragon fruit producers in Binh Thuan and discuss plans for dragon fruit purchase and transport in accordance with each unit’s conditions and demand.

This program also aims to implement the Directive of the Ministry of Industry & Trade on creating favorable conditions for goods circulation and enhancing goods consumption in domestic markets amidst Covid-19, especially agricultural products of provinces/cities with mass production.

Reportedly, Binh Thuan is in the peak harvest of dragon fruit, with a total growing area of 33,750 hectares (including 11,936 hectares of VietGAP dragon fruit, 517 hectares of GlobalGAP dragon fruit). The expected output of dragon fruit from June to December is about 437,000 tons.
