The plan focuses on measures to intensify dragon fruit export to international markets, including traditional markets. Trade promotion programs will be implemented to support enterprises, cooperatives, and production facilities to seek potential markets and raise export turnover. At the same time, domestic distribution systems need to be expanded to take Binh Thuan dragon fruit to domestic and international tourists and as well as encourage local people to consume more dragon fruit. Moreover, functional agencies will also step up production and business of “clean dragon fruit”, hi-tech applications with VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards in order to ensure supplies of high-quality products for domestic consumption and export, contributing to the sustainable development of dragon fruit production in Binh Thuan.
The industry and Trade sector has also joined the plan to encourage and give support to the processing industry in order to raise the value of Binh Thuan’s dragon fruit and create more added value and new products for export. Reportedly, the plan will be deployed with an estimated fund of VND 1.5-2 billion, contributed by Binh Thuan dragon fruit Association, dragon fruit production enterprises, as well as other sources from the province’s budget and central agencies through national target programs.
