The Ta Nang – Phan Dung has been become a familiar trekking place among many travellers as it’s most beautiful and must-explored route in Vietnam.

Beautiful but dangerous
Ta Nang – Phan Dung route starts from Ta Nang commune, belonging to Lam Dong province where the Churu ethnic minority group is living, and ends at Phan Dung commune, Binh Thuan province where the Raglai ethnic minority has. Currently, there are 2 different roads to travel.
The former which has nearly 40 km, with many hills and mountains, few rivers and streams. It takes 2 days and 1 night for inexperienced travellers. The latter lasts about 55 km length passing by Yavly waterfall with many small and large streams. It usually takes 3 days and 2 nights for rich experienced travellers.
Following the second road, travellers may face heavy rains and strong and dangerous water flows. It is better and safer to travel to this road in late rainy season as traveller can enjoy the most gorgeous views along the roadsides.
Due to extensive terrain from the plateau to the coastal plain, Ta Nang – Phan Dung forest has a variety of forest types, including the forest edge of Ta Nang, where the terrain is quite flat with low shrubs, immense meadow and green rice fields. It can be said that almost all of trekkers are fear of the Ta Nang – Phan Dung road because of its high hill and constantly steep slopes from 800m to 1,800 m against the sea level.
Calling for investment in ecotourism development
Currently, the number of trekkers from other provinces to explore Ta Nang – Phan Dung route is on the increase, raising the alarm on the risk of local social safety, order and security for both trekkers and local residents.
Consequently, the People’s committee of Binh Thuan requested the Department of culture, Sports and Tourism to regularly check and review the tourism activity in Phan Dung. Notably, it urges the Center of Tourism information and promotion to organize survey and fact-finding tours to locale direction and alert signs inside Ta Nang – Phan Dung route. Otherwise, it is better to hold knowledge and existence skills training sessions for trekkers and tourists and travel operators. Accordingly, the authorities are checking and assessing the natural condition, resources, potentials for tourism development in the locality so that it can be added into tourism planning under stipulation, turning the wonderful Ta Nang – Phan Dung route into a safer place for explorers.
