BTO- The State Bank of Vietnam-Binh Thuan Branch lately directed credit institutions and banks in the province to give priority to providing preferential

loans for pig- farming households, companies, who have been affected by African swine fever (ASF), to resume their production.

The policy is implemented under document No. 2263 issued by Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee on measures to prevent ASF disease that spread to pigs farms in many provinces/cities. Accordingly, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development takes responsibility for working with people’s committees of districts/town/city to review the payment of financial aid for local farmers to maintain and restock hog herds that were decimated by ASF. The department is also asked to work with the State Bank of  Vietnam-Binh Thuan branch to direct local banks and credit institutions to give priorities to loans for pig raising households so that they can resume and expand production in line with the Vietnam banking sector’s guidance.

At the same time, department of Agriculture and Rural Development should intensify propaganda about the hazard of this viral disease and risk of African swine fever spreading; strictly implement preventive measures, such as: cleaning and disinfecting breeding facilities, applying biosafety, monitoring and supervising pig herds….; drastically and synchronously strengthen solutions against ASF disease with the motto “fighting ASF as fighting against the enemy”; promote the roles of head persons in the prevention and control the disease in accordance with directions from the Secretariat, the National Assembly, the Government, and Prime Minister.
