ACWA Power looks for renewable energy project investments in Binh Thuan

BTO – On July 8th morning, Standing vice chairman of Binh Thuan provincial People’s committee Luong Van Hai received a working delegation from Fecon JSC and ACWA Power Group (Saudi Arabia) which would like to search investment opportunities in area of renewable energy in Binh Thuan province.

At the reception, Mr. Andrea Lovato – Senior Director of Business Development of ACWA Power Group, confirmed his investment intention to the province. Accordingly, the Fecon JSC and ACWA Power Group would like to invest 3 renewable energy projects, with a capacity of about 50 MWp each. The projects are hoped to impulse the province planning for clean energy development.

Mr. Andrea Lovata expected to get more facilitation and incentives from the local authorities in registration procedures to speed up the project as soon as possible.

Vice chairman Hai thanked to the interest of the two companies in the province’s renewable energy projects, saying that the province would bolster the procedures relating to the projects. And if there are any arising obstacles, the functional authorities will review and tackle the problems in the hope that the ACWA Power would deploy more similar projects in Binh Thuan as offered in the Group’s orientation.

ACWA Power is reported a developer, investor, operator and co-owner of electricity generation plants in 12 countries in the regions of Middle East, North Africa, South Africa and Southeast Asia. The ACWA owns an investment list worth over USD 30.5 billion, with a total capacity of electricity generation of 21.5 GW. The ACWA Power is partnering with FECON JSC to research and assess the opportunities as well as potentialities of Vietnam’s renewable energy projects, with a focus on wind power and solar power in the South Central provinces of Binh Thuan and Ninh Thuan.
