The ceremony had the attendance of the province’s leaders, war veterans, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, more than 400 youth union members, people’s armed forces as well as numerous people. More than 9,000 candles were lit up and put near martyrs’ graves to express deep gratitude to whom sacrificed their lives to the country’s independence.
Speaking at the ceremony, Secretary of the provincial Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Branch Le Thi Bich Lien emphasized that, lighting candles to pay tribute to heroic martyrs is one of meaningful activities of youth to show their awareness about the tradition “When drinking water, remember its source”.
On that occasion, war veterans and senior revolutionaries shared their stories about their hardship and sacrifice during the years of wars, especially in Mau Than General Offensive and Uprising in Spring 1968.
