The Vinh Tan 1 thermal power project, located in Vinh Tan commune-Tuy Phong district with a designed capacity of 2x620 MW, has been put into commercial operation in November, 2018. In 2019, the plant generated a combined electricity output of nearly 8.9 billion kW/h, connected to national power grid, contributing to reducing power thirst in southern provinces. The annual amount of coal ash released from the plant is about 1.2 millions tons.
Apart from ensuring power supply for economic growth of the country and contributing to improving socioeconomic development in the locality, Vinh Tan 1 thermal power plant has also applied advanced technologies and effective solutions to environmental protection. In 2019, more than 10% of the plant’s slagged ash was recycled to produce construction materials
Due to the spread of Covid-19 epidemic, the plant has implemented many preventive measures to ensure safety for its staffs. About 100 Chinese experts and engineers has not returned to work after their new year holiday. In the face of difficulties due to human resource shortage amid high demand for power during dry season, the company has tries its utmost to deal with production, ensuring stable electricity supply in the first two months of 2020, with a total output of 1.55 billion kW/h, accounting for 20% of the whole year’s plan.
