The State leader died at 10:05 on the
morning of September 21 at the 108 Military Central Hospital, the VNA quoted a
news source from the board responsible for the health of the senior leaders as
stating.
The agency said the President was unable to make a recovery despite the enormous
efforts made by domestic and foreign professors and doctors.
Born in 1956 in the northern province of Ninh Binh, he was elected president of
Vietnam in April 2016 at the 11th plenary meeting of the 13th National Assembly.
Prior to this post, he was Minister of Public Security from August 2011 to April
2016. Quang was elected to the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam in
2011 and was promoted to a full general in 2012.
He began his career at the Ministry of Public Security in 1975 and held many
posts within the ministry.
