Speaking at the meeting on May 21, Vietnamese ambassador to Japan Doan Xuan Hung affirmed that the fine Vietnam-Japan relations have laid a solid foundation for the development of the tourism in both countries.
Launching two more air routes will further facilitate not only boosting tourism but also contribute to tightening the friendship between the peoples of the two nations and strengthen mutual understanding, he said.
According to official statistics, Japanese tourism to Vietnam has seen an incremental uptrend over recent years. In 2013, Vietnam welcomed over 600,000 Japanese visitors, up 4.8% compared to the same period last year.
Additionally, ambassador Hung requested the Japanese Government ease visa regulations to facilitate travel by Vietnamese to Japan. He voiced his hope that the launch of the new routes by the airline provides fresh impetus to developing trade ties between Vietnam and Japan in the coming time.
Hoang Thanh Quy, Director of the Vietnam Airlines’ branch office in Japan, said the Hanoi-Haneda air route will begin as of July 1 with seven flights per week. The Da Nang-Narita route will kick off as of July 16 with four flights per week, he said.
The additional air routes will bring the total number of weekly flights to Japan to 62, he said adding that the route linking Da Nang to Tokyo will contribute to the transformation of Da Nang and central provinces into attractive international tourism centres.
