Upgrading 8 urban road projects in La Gi town: Promoting local socio-economic development

Although Tan An - the central ward of La Gi town is on the momentum of development, towards urban type II,  in recent years, the road system has not been completed yet, not worthy of the local development. Many roads have not been covered with asphalt, in which the current status of 8 roads is expected to be invested are red gravel roads, no drainage and dust systems. Especially when it is in the dry season and flooded with muddy water in the rainy season, causing loss of urban beauty, affecting the daily life of people.

Facing such urgent need, at the seminar (9th) of the 10^th Congress of the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Council passed a resolution on upgrading 8 urban roads of La Gi town. This is a group C project, decided by the Provincial People's Council and the Provincial People's Committee to invest in the project. When the project is finished, it will achieve the goal of meeting the traffic demand, being a convenient transportation in the area, safety, and improved environmental sanitation. On the other hand, creating urban beauty and contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of La Gi town.

Whereby, the investment scale to upgrade 8 roads with a total length of about 4,660 meters with asphalt concrete pavement structure, investment in drainage systems, and traffic safety systems. Specifically, Type 1 road includes 2 routes with a total length of about 1,360 meters, namely Nguyen Thuong Hien and Tran Quy Cap. Type 2 road includes 4 routes with a total length of about 2,320 m, including Hoang Dieu, Doan Thi Diem, Trung Trac, and Trung Nhi streets. Particularly, type 3 road includes 2 routes with a total length of about 980 m, namely Nguyen Duc Canh and Bui Huu Nghia streets.

According to Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Hoa, the investment in 8 inner-city roads, La Gi town is in line with the planning of West Song Dinh of La Gi town. However, because the budget capital is still limited, in this period, only investment in road surface width is based on the current conditions. As for the drainage system, invested in accordance with the approved construction planning and the People's Committee of La Gi town is responsible for managing the plan to avoid encroachment later.

In the term of 2020 - 2025, one of the main tasks and solutions that the Party Committee of La Gi town focuses on that is to exploit the potentials and advantages to develop the economy in the direction of commercial services development and tourism associated with coastal urban areas. Thereby, improving the investment environment, encouraging economic sectors to invest in development, improving efficiency and competitiveness. The locality also strives to improve the economic efficiency of aquatic products, develop agriculture and rural areas and exploit resources well for investment and development. These are some of the tasks and solutions to effectively implement the urban development program of La Gi town, complete the grade-III urban standard by 2025 and move towards the quality of the infrastructure according to the urban-grade standards. II in the following years. This development process, the project to upgrade 8 urban roads, La Gi town will contribute to promoting socio-economic development of the locality. 

The estimated total investment of the project is 49 billion VND, of which the provincial budget is 45 billion VND and the remaining capital is due to the balanced budget of La Gi town. The duration of the project is 3 years (from 2021 - 2023). It is expected that the planned capital plan to start construction in 2021 for the project is VND 10 billion.
