Currently, Binh Duc pottery village includes 155 pottery artists/pottery-makers that have made great effort in upholding and promoting this kind of handicrafts in Binh Thuan in particular and in Vietnam in general. The village is regarded as a “museum of pottery” where stores a number of special cultural traits of the Cham pottery makers.
Over the past several years of challenges, the handicraft still exists and has its own feature. Go pottery products are different from other pottery items as they are made in a simple and plain style but it can lure many customers thanks to its unique decoration.
The pottery materials including clay and sand are taken through many stages: soaking, mixing with sand and kneading to make the clay soft with a high adhesion. Although their products are handicraft items, several steps are automated to turn out more sophisticated ones to the markets. The pottery handicraft brings a few of profits to the Cham people, but they wish to preserve their cultural identity.
