“Chung” Cake festival retraces Vietnamese Traditional Tet

BTO – The yearly “Chung” cake (sticky rice cake – the Vietnamese traditional cake for the Lunar New Year) festival, in its 5th time, to welcome Vietnamese traditional Lunar New Year have been recently held at the Cliff resort and residences. The festival entitled “the story of Tet Cake” was held in the hope of bringing the best experience to domestic and foreign guests when visiting Phan Thiet – Mui Ne on those days.

The entire festival’s space was decorated in the perspective of red and yellow colors, the traditional colors of Vietnamese Tet festival. At the site, the Lunar New Year was retraced through the old-aged and friendly sceneries, such as: Five-fruits tray, Tet cake, parallel sentences, thatched cottages, leaf roof, etc. Besides, tourists could also join a variety of Vietnamese folk games.

 

The most interesting and bustling part of the festival is the Chung Cake Festival.  Almost all of the participants and guests showed their excitement when wearing the traditional costume of the Vietnamese ethnics, and wrapping the “Chung” cake by their hands. Under the careful instruction of the resort staff, those foreigners could finally wrap the Chung cake with the Dong leaf.

Most of the participants confessed that cake-wrapping procedures are not as easy as they thought since it required skillful hands and careful observation. After 15 minutes, the judge picked up 3 foreign contestants whose Chung cake are the best looks. All the cakes would be then cooked and offered to the participants as souvenir gifts.

The lively atmosphere in harmony with the folk art show made visitors perceive the unique and tradition of the ancient Tet festival of the Vietnamese poeple.
