Folk tales of the Cham ethnic group in Binh Thuan – a valuable collection of Cham culture

BTO- Book of folk tales of the Cham ethnic group in Binh Thuan compiled by Bo Xuan Ho- member of Vietnam’s folk Literature and Arts, belongs to a large-scale project themed “ Announcing and disseminating Vietnam’s folk culture treasure”. This project has been conducted by reputable Ph.Ds, doctors and writers in Vietnam. It is a collection book of folk tales, including myths, legendaries and magic tales featurings characteristics of the Cham ethnic community living in Binh Thuan province. Especially, the most noticeable items are the legendaries of famous dams in Binh Thuan, such as: Song Quao, Da Mi, Vinh Hao; the origin of matriarchy, customs of the Cham community, as well as  stories about Chang and Xe  Priests…

This publication is expected to contribute to providing readers inside and outside Vietnam with reference books as encycloedia about cultural features of the ethnic minorities in Vietnam. The book, publishing by Social Sciences Publishing House, is recommended to those who are fond of researching and collecting Cham cultural characteristics.
