The event attracted 44 competitors who desire to show their passion for traditional arts. They sang Cham folk-songs, performed colorful Cham costumes, as well as met together for cultural exchanges on the first days of new year 2016- the year of Monkey.
According to the Cham culture, the contest required men and women of Cham ethnic group to present themselves their unique costumes during Tet festive days, repartee singing to show their love to their lovers and the homeland. The event aimed at helping the young generations of the Cham community learn more about traditional culture, thereby have a stronger attachment to the preservation of their ethnic group’s valuable cultural features.
After an impressive show with special items, the title of best folk singer went to Xich Van Nghiem (Phan Thanh commune), followed by To Nhu and Dang Thi Thai Thuy from Phan Hiep commune with the second and third prizes. As for the part of Cham costumes performance, Xich Thi Huong Thom (Phan Thanh commune) brought home the first prize while Lam Quang Dang Nu Thu Huong (Phan Hoa commune) and Nguyen Thi Vieng (Phan Thanh commune) were awarded the second and the third prizes.
Besides, many subordinate awards such as: best traditional costume, best freestyle costume, best behaviour… and four consolation prizes were also presented to contestants in traditional costumes performance. The festival was considered as a wholesome playground for local residents in Bac Binh district and visitors, contributing to honoring the Cham folk songs and the original beauty of traditional costumes of the Cham women when making Spring pilgrimage.
