Vietnam qualified for the knockout round as the group winners, with three victories against Laos, Malaysia and Cambodia and a goalless draw with Myanmar. Particularly, Park Hang-seo’s side remained the only team yet to concede a goal as the group stage wrapped up.
Meanwhile, the Philippines were also impressive in their road to the semifinals, finishing second in Group B with two wins over Singapore and Timor Leste, and two draws against heavyweights Thailand and Indonesia.
