VN earns gold medal at 2017 Asia Individual Chess Championship

Vietnamese chess player Vo Thi Kim Phung yesterday won a gold medal in standard category of the 2017 Asian Individual Chess Championship.

Vietnamese female grandmaster Vo Thi Kim Phung won the first gold medal at the 2017 Asia Individual Chess Championship

The female grandmaster drew with Gomes Mary Ann of India to have 7.5 point and grabbed the medal. 

This is the first Asian individual gold medal of Kim Phung.

In the same category, the teammates like Hoang Thi Bao Tram, Nguyen Thi Mai Hung and Pham Le Thao Nguyen respectively were ranked at the sixth, ninth and 11th positions. 

For the men’s standard category, Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son had 5.5 point to stand the 14th position.

Vietnamese team continues expecting next high achievements from the men and women’s rapid and blitz category.
