In the women’s singles, Vu Thi Trang, world No 39, was defeated by world No 12 Busana Ongbamrungphan 21-15, 21-18.
In the men’s singles, Suppanyu Avihingsanon defeated Vietnamese top player Nguyen Tien Minh, world No 44, 24-22, 21-9.
In the women’s doubles, Trang and Nguyen Thi Sen were bested by Jongkolphan Kititharakul and Rawinda Prajongja 21-13, 21-8.
In the last category, mixed doubles, Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Sapsiree Taerattanachai beat Do Tuan Duc and Pham Nhu Thao 21-8, 21-16.
