BTO – After three-day fierce competition, the Vietnam’s Binh Thuan team of dragon boat claimed the first place at the Kedah International Dragon Boat festival 2016 held in Malaysia on March 27th with the outstanding record of 4’14”10. The 2015 championship Brunei, which has been participating in the festival for three consecutive years, was ranked second with the performance of 4’41”10 and the third place was given to the Philippines (4’47”40).
With the top-notch result, the Vietnam’s Binh Thuan team came up with the honor to receive the highest trophy directly from supreme Sultan of Kedah Darul Aman and an award worth 10,000 ringgit while the second and third prices cost 5,000 and 2,000 ringgit, respectively.
As known, the festival took place from March 23 to 27 at Mada dam, Tangjung Chali, Alor Setar, Kedah, Malaysia in conjunction with the 88th birthday anniversary of Sultan of Kedah Darul Aman. The festival is held annually to beef up the image of Kedah – the greatest rice field of Malaysia, and to tighten the friendship and relationship among the participant countries, promoting the development of dragon boat racing festival at the host locality.
