Binh Thuan to disburse over VND 1 bln for “Tet for the poor and AO victims” campaign

BTO- Over the past 10 years of implementing campaign “Tet for the poor and Agent Orange victims” (period 2009-2018), the red Cross Societies at all levels have mobilized charitable groups and sponsors to donate funds for 437,253 gifts for the poor and agent organge victims.

In the same period, red cross societies in Binh Thuan gave support to 214,591 turns of poor households, 31,115 turns of AO victims, 190,229 turns of elderly, disabled people as well as orphans etc, with a total value of over VND 81.6 billion. Apart from financial assistance, other forms have been performed to help needy people. In particular, red cross societies at all levels have offered 43 Red Cross houses, essential goods, clothes, household materials to poor households; granted books, notebooks, bicyles and scholarships to poor studious students; given free medical check-ups and medicine to people with difficult circumstances; offered meals and presents to poor patients.

According to Binh Thuan Red Cross Chairman Dang Ngoc Thien, the campaign has been promoted effectively and brought satisfactory outcomes, contributing to attracting the participation of many organizations and people to join hands in caring for the poor in the coming Tet season.
