Binh Thuan’s “lau tha” recognized as Vietnam’s top ten special dishes

BTO - “Lau tha” one of the most specific foods in Phan Thiet city has been officially selected as one of Vietnam’s top ten special dishes by the Vietnam Book of Records (Vietkings).  

The top ten special dishes of Vietnam, that are recommended as must-try dishes for tourists once coming to Vietnam, were nominated and selected by Top Vietnam Center via website topplus.vn from May 1st to June 1st . The vote for top ten special dishes received over 40,000 votes of the magazine’s readers and visitors nationwide. Lau tha is a famous hotpot made from fresh fish (white sardine or silver sillago), pork, fried egg. This meal is served with rice vermicelli, rice paper, cucumber, unripe mango, starfruit, some fresh vegetables, consomme or a special sauce made from fishsauce, peanut, garlic and red chilli. All materials are arranged on banana flower bract for guests to pick up one by one items,  put them on their bowls and pour the hot consomme/sauce into the bowl to enjoy them. This special meal, which bears specific characteristics and flavour of the coastal city, is contributing to promoting the image of Binh Thuan tourism to other regions in Vietnam and the world through culinary art.
