he Ministry of Home Affairs has agreed to a proposal for a seven-day Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday in 2023 by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA).

The ministry finally decided to go with the seven-day plan, stating that it is not too long and ensures a balance of days off before and after the largest festival of the year.

Under the plan, officials, civil servants and workers of public agencies will begin their 2023 Tet holiday from January 20 (the 29th day of the 12th lunar month) to January 26 (the fifth day of the first lunar month).

The Ministry of Home Affairs also agreed to a four-day holiday for the 2023 National Day celebrations, from September 1 to September 4.

For workers of enterprises, the length of the Tet break is to be decided by their employers, who must announce the plans to their employees at least 30 days before the start of the holiday.

For the National Day holiday, employers will decide to add one more day off either before or after September 2.
