Binh Thuan ensures to disburse 100 percent of public investment capital in 2020
Reporting at the meeting, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Ngoc Hai confirmed the province has so far deployed socioeconomic plans and the 2020 forecast state budget in the face of Covid-19 impacts. On the other hand, the long-lasting drought, non-synchronous infrastructure investment as well as overlapped titanium planning and other areas, etc. have seriously affected the province’s socioeconomic development. However, with the ultimate effort of the whole political system, enterprises and people, a positive performance in socioeconomic condition are obtained, with a particular GRDP growth of 3.81 percent. Most notably, the value of industrial production hits VND17.2 trillion as its main growth driver.
The most difficulties are the Covid-19 impact to tourism service, trade ad export sectors as the tourist volume and tourism revenues decreased by 46 percent and over 37 percent, respectively.
With respect to key projects of national importance, Binh Thuan has been concentrating on a 160.3 km section of the North-South Expressway. To date, the province has handed over 90 percent of site clearance and disbursed 71.3 percent of investment capital for the project.
Binh Thuan leaders confirmed they could hand over the ground to commence the two sections of Phan Thiet – Dau Giay and Phan Thiet - Vinh Hao expressway by the end of August.
On account of the disbursement of public investment capital, the locality had disbursed 38.4 percent of total capital of more than VND 3 trillion by June 30th and more than 42 percent by July 21.
Prime Minister Phuc lauded the local authorities for setting the target of disbursing 100 percent of its allocated public investment budget within the year.
Removing obstructed points
At the meeting, Chairman Hai proposed some solutions to remove obstacles and step forward the constructional progress of Phan Thiet Airport, supplementing the off-shore wind power projects, etc. to the national power development planning. The province’s Gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in 2019 was placed 32nd out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide. But, its GRDP has leveled up to 18th position within the first six months of 2020.
PM Phuc asked the province strike to balance its strengths and obstacles so that it can claim many more progressive steps in the future.
