The event had the attendance of the city’s leaders, representatives of departments and units concerned, along with numerous students, youth union members in the locality.
According to WHO, 62 countries and territories have informed of the existence or spreading of Zika virus so far. In Vietnam in particular, Ministry of Health has acknowledged two cases positive for Zika virus in Khanh Hoa province and Ho Chi Minh city, therefore, the possibility of spreading the disease to Binh Thuan province is really high. Simultaneously, mosquitoes spreading Zika virus are also the ones causing the current hemorrhagic fever in Vietnam, with nearly 100,000 cases each year.
At the launching ceremony, leaders of Phan Thiet city urged every departments, authorities at all levels and the entire people to actively take part in activities responding to the campaign preventing-combating diseases caused by Zika virus and hemorrhagic fever for the community’s health. The city’s authorities and residents have determined to prevent Zika virus from spreading and limit the outbreak of dengue fever in the whole province.
Concluding the ceremony, relevant agencies in coordination with local youth union members and health sector cadres came to a number of households to examine the preventing-combating hemorrhagic fever work and guide people how to destroy mosquitoes and mosquito larva.
