New Vietnam-Cambodia border markers unveiled in Dak Lak

Markers 41 and 43 are located in Ia R’ve and Ea Bung Communes of Dak Lak’s Ea Sup District, neighbors to the Cambodian province of Mondulkiri.

The granite markers were planted by the Border Defense Command of Dak Lak and each measures 1.25 meters tall. 

With the planting of the markers, Dak Lak and Mondulkiri have so far installed 11 major markers at seven positions as agreed upon by the two countries’ national border committees for the 2007-2017 period.

Colonel Nguyen Quang Hung, commander of the Dak Lak Border Defense Command, said the construction of the two markers reflects the two governments’ resolve in completing the demarcation of their shared border by planting markers that serve to assist in the maintenance of a peaceful, friendly, cooperative, and sustainable borderline.

Dak Lak and Mondulkiri share a 73-kilometer border maintained in line with treaties and agreements reached by the two countries. 

The two provinces will continue the border demarcation and auxiliary marker installation project along their shared border, Hung said.
