In recent years, the HCYU has continuously renovated the content and methods of education to meet the requirements of the new situation and the rapidly changing trend of the youth situation. The youth union has developed an exemplary model for the young generation with 12 specific criteria set according to age, perception, and social background.
Attention has also attached to discovering, nurturing and honouring exemplary models; mobilising influencers to participate in the education of the young generation; boosting the application of information and communication technology to gather and educate young people.Over the past five years, more than 12 million young people have participated in volunteering activities and more than 800,000 youth projects. Around 2.2 million ideas and initiatives have been realised, with over 74,000 of them having received support from the youth union at all levels to come to fruition.
At the same time, more than VND10 trillion in loans has been provided for youths, approximately 1 million events on start-up consultancy and vocational training activities have been held, plus around 3,000 creative youth start-up projects have received support from the HCYU.
In the context of the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic and unpredictable natural disasters, the youth unions at all levels have suspended activities gathering in large crowds. Instead, the HCYU has worked out youth initiatives and digital-based activities targeting the community, and enhanced the application of information and communication technology in its operations. The participation of young people in pandemic prevention and control and disaster response has been highly appreciated by local authorities and people.
However, the HCYU and society have concerns about the fact that a small number of youths’ belief in revolutionary ideals has faded, falling into pragmatic living and turning their back against fine cultural traditions of the nation.
In the coming time, the HCYU has focused on implementing the following solutions to educate revolutionary ideals and patriotism, nurture aspirations among young people while boosting voluntary youth movements.
1. Continue to renovate its operation as requested by the Secretariat’s instruction No.42-CT/TW on ‘enhancing the Party’s leadership for educating revolutionary ideals, morality and cultural lifestyle for younger generations during the 2015-2030 period’, with a focus on popularising political theories, Party’s guidelines and policies, State’s laws among young people.
2. Attach importance to education through revolutionary actions in youth movements. Accordingly, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union continues to launch revolutionary actions in youth movements in order to awake strength and outstanding qualities of the youth.
3. Continue to provide support and create favourable conditions for young people to learn, practice and develop comprehensively while protecting the legal rights and interests of youth, particularly advanced and disadvantaged young people.
4. Improve the quality of the union members and attach importance to educating and raising awareness, political virtue, sense of vigilance for youth union members and young people. Proactively providing information, knowledge, and skills for young people to self-prevent and fight against the distorted allegations of hostile and reactionary forces while also ensuring information security, protecting ideological security, and cultural security on cyberspace. Continuing to foster the implement the movement on ‘Youth union members strive to become members of the Communist Party of Vietnam’.
5. Young party members, particularly those working as youth union staff at all levels, should set an examples for youth union members and children to follow. It is also necessary to effectively implement the 12th Party Central Committee's Resolution No. 4 on enhancing the building and rectification of the Party, and work out mechanisms to encourage and supervise the work of example setting among young cadres and party members, which is crucial to consolidate Vietnamese youth’s trust in the Party.
The HCYU called on Party committees at all levels to continue to strengthen leadership in youth activities so that Vietnamese youth can well fulfil their missions entrusted by the Party and State.
The youth union also hopes that during the 13th National Party Congress, the Party Central Committee will review the 15-year implementation of the Resolution No. 25-TQ/TW enhancing Party’s leadership in youth activities.
Being aware of its roles and responsibilities, with absolute trust in the leadership of the Party and the success of the 13th National Party Congress, the HCYU and Vietnamese youth completely agree with the statement that our country has never had such potential, position and international prestige as it does today. The HCYU determine to take specific actions to bring the Party’s resolutions into life for the goal of wealthy people, a strong, democratic, just and civilised country, and for a bright future of the young generation.
