Speaking at the meeting, vice chairman Nguyen Duc Hoa briefly introduced the past 6-month-foreign affairs activities of Binh Thuan province, especially the external ties with Russia. As reported, the locality has so far received 3 aid projects from 2 foreign Non-Governmental organizations with a total backing of USD 658,816, a year-on-year increase of 49.45 percent. Nevertheless, the province has not yet received any financial aids and ODA projects from Russia.
On account of exports and investments, Binh Thuan’s export turnovers has realized USD 178.3 million in the first half, rising by 12.63 percent over a year ago. As of now, Binh Thuan’s commodities have penetrated into 65 countries and territories all over the world. With respect to Russia market, the local export turnovers hit USD 119,300 in 2015 and USD 246,000 in 2016. As of now, Binh Thuan has totally 19 Russian projects in areas of tourism, travel services and sea sports, with a total investment of USD 493.2 million. Of these, 17 projects have been put into operation. The two others including Vietnam Delverton tourist area and Doi Bach Duong tourist complex still make no headway.
Vice chairman Nguyen Duc Hoa also highlighted the major volume of Russian tourists to Binh Thuan in the past 6 years, with an account of over 30 percent of the whole international tourist arrivals in Binh Thuan.
After hearing reports of Binh Thuan’s first-half foreign affair activities and suggestions from the Department of Culture-Sports and Tourism and Department of Investment and Planning, Deputy Chief Ngo Duc Manh appreciated the local achievements in foreign affairs, hoping that the discussion would promote the cooperation between Binh Thuan and Russia in terms of tourism, industry and aids in the coming time. Mr. Manh also noticed the province of making preparation for an international event of Vietnam-Russia travel cooperation and promotion to lure many more Russian investors to the locality.
