Vietnam talks about climate change at int’l puppetry festival

Vietnam will talk about climate change in its play at the fifth International Puppetry Festival scheduled to be held in Hanoi from October 8 – 15.

The play “Cong Chua Toc May” produced by the Thang Long Puppetry Theatre. The 45-minute show is a combination of different kinds of puppetry such as water puppetry, and rode and string puppetry.

Meritorious artist Nguyen Phuong Nhi said through characteristics in the fairy world such as the mermaid, princess, prince, witch, and animals familiar to children like puppy, crow and python, the play conveys a message calling on people to join hands in combating climate change, protecting the environment and saving energy.

The Cong Chua Toc May play will be performed widely to the public after the international festival.

The fifth International Puppetry Festival is expected to see the participation of puppetry troupes from Thailand, France, the Philippines, Brazil, Cambodia and China. 

Four Vietnamese art units – the Thang Long Puppetry Theatre, Vietnam Puppetry Theatre, Ho Chi Minh City puppetry art troupe, and Hai Phong puppetry art troupe, will join the event.
