AFF Suzuki Cup 2018: Coach Park expects a win in tough Myanmar game
Both Vietnam and Myanmar have set the target to win the important match tomorrow. |
It will be a difficult away game for us. The home team have played very well and scored seven goals, but we are prepared and will do our best to win,” the Korean coach affirmed.
Vietnamese striker Cong Phuong expressed his belief in the form of his team against the in-form hosts at Thuwanna Stadium tomorrow evening. Phuong, who scored one in each of the two previous games against Laos and Malaysia, said: "I am quite confident as I have scored two goals in the last two games and will be ready to play tomorrow. I hope I can help Vietnam to progress to the next stages of the tournament.”
"The match tomorrow will be very difficult as we have to play away from home, but we will try our best to earn three points. It is not important for me to score, but a win for the team is the top concern," the No. 14 striker affirmed.
Regarding the most important “weapon” in the Myanmar squad - young star Aung Thu, Phuong said: "I know him. We have faced each other many times on the pitch. Aung Thu is a good player in both ball control and finishing, but the whole team will try to keep him at bay."
On the Myanmar side, host coach Antoine Hey said: "In the first match against Cambodia, the players were relatively tired, and it was important to win the two previous games. We still have a game at home and an away match.”
"The plan is to win the home games. We have the support of the home fans, and the team has no injuries, only Win Thain Thein is suspended," said the 48-year-old German coach.
We are looking forward to a good game tomorrow, because Vietnam is a very strong team. However, tomorrow Myanmar will play with the highest determination. We set a goal to win the match as a gift to the Myanmar fans at Thuwanna,” Hey stated.
After two wins against Cambodia and Laos, Myanmar currently sit atop Group A with six points, level with Vietnam in second place, but have an advantage in goal difference.
Meanwhile, Park’s side still have their last training session before the match at 6:30 pm (Vietnam time) on November 20.
