The first National Green Sunday movement kicked off in Binh Thuan

BTO-Binh Thuan has the honor to be one of the three units selected to organize the 1st national green Sunday movement on Sunday (March 20th). The event is a part of Youth Month 2022 to deal with environmental pollution, respond to climate change, and celebrate the 12th National Congress of the Youth Union for the 2022-2027 term.

Attending the event, there were Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union cum Chairman of the Central Inspection Committee of the Youth Union, Ngo Van Cuong; Vice-chairman of Binh Thuan Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh, representatives of leaders of provincial departments and branches, union members and youth.

The program was launched in the communes of Hong Phong, Hoa Thang, Ham Duc, and Phong Nam. Remarkably, the youths concentrated on planting trees along the irrigation canal route at Le Hong Phong area (Hong Phong commune) and cleaned the beaches at Hong Hai hamlet (Hoa Thang commune). After that, the volunteers inaugurated the work of “Lighting up the countryside” at Hong Phong commune (Bac Binh district). Additionally, the delegates headed towards Ham Duc and Phong Nam communes to visit the start-ups' models of dragon fruit wine production and fish sauce production, respectively.

On occasion, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee presented VND 500 million to Binh Thuan’s young people to help them develop the economy, gave 10 water tanks to poor families, and built a library of 100 children's books worth more than VND 70 million.

Practically, the Youth Union branches at all levels have organized volunteer groups to clean the environment, plant trees and flowers along rural roads, and breed young trees for the “For a green Vietnam” program. Other activities include planting nursery gardens and creating school gardens to achieve the target of planting at least 20 million trees this year.
