BTO – On March 4th morning (Lunar January 17th), the islanders of Phu Quy gathered at Phu Quy seaport to participate in “cau ngu” festival which prays for bumper fishing catch. The ceremony marks a significant belief of the coastal people, including fishers on Phu Quy.

The activity is yearly held right after the Lunar New Year to pray for favorable weather, bumper fishing catches and safe and sound fishing journeys. The festival includes many rites such as: reading poet to welcome Whale, dragon dancing, singing and processon, etc.

The festival is a cultural tradition of the fishermen on Phu Quy island as the Spring comes year by year.
