The central city’s secretariat said the annual marathon would be an attraction for domestic and foreign tourists visiting the coastal city.
This year will be the event’s fourth year, in which participants can run in a full marathon (42km), half marathon (21km), 10km run and a fun run (5km).
It is the first Vietnamese marathon to be certified by the IAAF-AIMS (International Amateur Athletics Association-Association of International Marathons and Distance Races), and consists of a two-lap route.
Last year’s race involved 4,000 participants, 400 of which were professionals from 27 countries and territories.
The city said those who participated in the Da Nang International Marathon would qualify for the Boston Marathon.
People can register for the marathon at www.rundanang.com , or in person at HCM City’s Pulse Active Company, eighth floor, 47 Phung Khac Khoan Street, District 1.
The race has been organised by the city’s culture, sport and tourism department, the World Marathon Company and Pulse Active.
Last year, Koji Nishizawa from Japan and Vietnam’s Hoang Thi Thanh won the men’s and women’s marathon, respectively.
