The machine, which was installed in front of headquarters of people’s committee of Mui Ne ward, is running from 8h00-11h00 AM and from 13h30 PM to 17h00 PM. This charity project is sponsored by Mr. Phan Ngoc An, a citizen of Mui Ne who successfully set up his business in Ho Chi Minh City. Besides, he has prepared 10 tons of rice as an initial support for the machine’s operation. To get free rice, each individual must take a ticket from the head person of hamlet/quarter (one ticket/person/day), then wait in line (with a distance of 2 meters from each other) to receive 2 kilos of rice. All of them are requested to wear face masks and wash their hands before pressing the button to get rice.
According to Mrs.Nguyen Thi Thuy Loan, Chairwoman of Mui Ne’s Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front, the machine is expected to be operational within 2 weeks or until it runs out of rice. Currently, the local authority is mobilizing local enterprises and benefactors to donate rice for the machine with the hope of extending the machine operation to help disadvantageous people. It is known that, some local sponsors took donated rice to the site, with about 6-7 quintals. Mr. An is also planning to set up the same machine in Phanthiet city to help the poor.
