145 outstanding ethnic minority students honoured

A total of 145 outstanding ethnic minority students in 2020 were honoured at a ceremony in Hanoi on November 29.

Outstanding ethnic minority students are honoured at the ceremony.

The event was held jointly by the Committee on Ethnic Minority Affairs, the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.

Speaking at the ceremony, Politburo member and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh affirmed the Party and State’s consistent perspective on considering education and training and science and technology as national policies of top priority.

The Deputy PM urged the Ministry of Education and Training and the Committee on Ethnic Minority Affairs to enhance policies on developing ethnic human resources while requiring Party committees, local authorities and organisations to facilitate education and training and to encourage and support teachers working in ethnic regions.

At the ceremony, the organising board honoured 145 outstanding ethnic minority students in 2020 from 50 ethnic groups across 47 provinces and cities.

On the same day, the outstanding ethnic minority students and youths paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum and reported their achievements at a ceremony held at Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature) in Hanoi.
