Over the past year, the FLOW-EOWE project has supported women’s economic participation in agricultural business and production models; advanced their capacity in doing research and technical transfer in dragon fruit production under the Global GAP standard. As a result, there are 160 households accessed to advanced agricultural technology, services and markets; 18 cooperatives were enhanced their management capabilities and gender responsibilities. In the meantime, 58 women get improved their leadership competence and other 945 people get awareness of agricultural coping with climate change. In addition, the project has assisted local agricultural cooperatives in developing collective trademarks, trade-marking their branded logo and package design, and marketing their products.
In the coming time, the local Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and Women’s Union will continue campaigning and persuading more women to take part in the project’s activities. Binh Thuan expects to raise awareness of gender equality among about 100,000 locals, increase income for 20,000 women, and support at least 18 women to start their own businesses.
