According to the report, the total volume of blood donation that the hospitals across the province have received from donors was 5,108 units in 2015. From December 1st 2015 to May 30th 2016, the whole province has observed 39 mobile and unplanned blood donation campaigns. As a result, there have been 2,973 blood units donated during the past 6 months of 2016, reaching 56 percent of the assigned target. Generally speaking, the campaign has achieved satisfied results with good and steady growth year by year, meeting adequate and timely demands for blood in treatment and emergency aid in hospitals.
This year – 2016, the national steering committee of VBDC selected Binh Thuan as a venue to organize the program, called “Red Journey”. The program aims to propagate blood donation campaign, cite the collectives and individuals who have donated blood for many times, raise people’s knowledge and attract more and more blood donors in the community. It also helps people get knowledge about congenital disease, inherited blood, particularly congenital hemolytic disease.
Under the plan of the provincial steering committee of VBDC, the “Red Journey-2016” will cover the following activities: Night Gala exchange and honoring blood donor “Blood Drop of the Coastal Region” in the message “Connecting the Vietnam’s bloodline”; Voluntary Blood Donation fiesta; and some mobile propaganda marches along some streets inside Phan Thiet city.
