BTO-Binh Thuan province’s Labour Federation on January 27 organized a programme called “Tet sum vay” (Gathering in Tet holiday) for 250 poor workers with difficult circumstances in the province. The event was also attended by Truong Quang Hai - member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board-vice chairman of the provincial People’s Council, vice chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Hoa, representatives of leaders of relevant departments, units, agencies.
The programme, which has been held across 63 provinces and cities nationwide, aims at supporting material and spiritual living for underprivileged labourers during the Lunar New Year festival. The event included various parts such as cultural exchange, discussion for workers to share their wishes, ideas and how to overcome their difficulties. 250 gift packages worth VND 1 million each were given to poor workers. “Tet sum vay 2016” is a meaningful programme representing the Labour Federation’s attention to bringing workers a warmer Tet holiday, especially those who have experienced accident at work, unemployment or payment suspension due to unfortunate factors affecting their businesses’s operation, as follows: natural calamity, fire”, said chairman of the provincial Labour Federation Nguyen Xuan Phoi.
Besides, the organization has arranged visits to present 500 Tet gifts to poor labourers, members of Fisheries Trade Unions and workers from families of preferential treatment policy in many localities. Quang Hai, on behalf of the provincial leaders, emphasized that the programme shows human culture and a long-run standard of Vietnamese people “Uong nuoc nho nguon” (When drinking the water, think of its source). He requested the provincial Labour Federation to maintain and promote this humanitarian activity, as well as call for the participation of the community towards building socialization models.
On that occasion, certificates of merit were awarded to 5 local businesses for their outstanding contribution to the cause of building the trade unions and for the labourers’ legitimate interests.
