Kate festival of Cham people

Annually, on the first days of October (on the in Cham calendar), Cham’s Kate festival is held at PoSahInu tower. This is the most important traditional festival in order to memorize their ancestors and pray for favorable conditions, good harvests.

Kate is a festival to memorize  the deities, heroes, ancestors, Kings who made great contributions to their nation and are considered deities such as: Poklong Gia-rai, Porome… This is also a chance for pilgrimages, meetings, ancestor visiting and worshiping. In the festival, there are some rituals like deity worshiping and procession, hat putting on, statue dressing and cleaning. At the end of the festival, people often recite poems, perform music, enjoy good luck and participate in many other kinds of entertainment.Kate festival of Cham people in Binh Thuan is often held at mausoleums, temples and their houses in most villages. At this festival, people can enjoy animated  echoes  in relation to ritual music of Cham ethnic group with Baranung drum, Saranai clarinet played by artists with all their respects and passtion. Cham girls are very beautiful and graceful in their traditional charming fan dancing…
