Delegates and the public attended the provincial historical site recognition ceremony

The event was attended by Mr. Vo Thanh Huy, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism; leaders from the provincial museum and Duc Linh District; representatives from Nam Chinh Commune and Duc Tai Town; along with revolutionary veterans, local residents, and students.

The Hoai Duc Victory Monument commemorates the heroic historical event 49 years ago when our army and people destroyed the Hoai Duc District Headquarters, fully liberating the Hoai Duc District on March 23, 1975. This victory remains a proud milestone in the history of Military Region VI and the people of Duc Linh District during the resistance war against the US.

The youth of Duc Linh take pride in their revolutionary heritage

Dinh Mountain, located in Nam Chinh Commune, was a key strategic point captured and held by our forces during the Hoai Duc - Tanh Linh Campaign. The high ground provided a strategic vantage point to monitor enemy movements in Hoai Duc District Headquarters and nearby strategic hamlets, aiding the attack and destruction of the headquarters. The area witnessed fierce battles between our forces and the enemy. Despite relentless enemy assaults, our troops courageously and steadfastly defended Dinh Mountain for 103 days and nights during the campaign, significantly contributing to the glorious victory that liberated Hoai Duc District on March 23, 1975. Dinh Mountain stands as a heroic historical relic and a source of pride for the people of Hoai Duc (Duc Linh) in the resistance war against the US.

Recognition of provincial revolutionary historical sites

The Dinh Mountain and Hoai Duc Victory Monument sites symbolize the valiant spirit, sacrifice, and hardships endured by previous generations. They commemorate the achievements of Military Region VI, Military Region VII, and the people and army of Duc Linh District during the resistance war against the US. These sites have become “red addresses” where today’s youth can return to their roots and reflect on the heroic revolutionary struggle and sacrifices of their forebears. They inspire patriotism, national pride, responsibility, and efforts to contribute to the development of the homeland and country.

At the ceremony, under the authorization of the provincial People’s Committee Chairman, Mr. Vo Thanh Huy, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, awarded the certificates recognizing the sites as provincial revolutionary historical relics. To preserve and effectively promote the value of these relics, the Deputy Director emphasized the need for the Duc Linh District People’s Committee to establish a Management Board for the sites and issue operational regulations following the Law on Cultural Heritage. Additionally, it is essential to organize regular “return to the roots” activities for youth union members and students to pay tribute and commemorate at the sites during local and national anniversaries.

Efforts should focus on preserving and protecting the relics, particularly in terms of educating younger generations about revolutionary traditions and political ideals. At the same time, there should be active promotion to encourage businesses, organizations, and individuals within and outside the province to support resources, alongside state budget funds, for restoration, enhancement, and improvement of the environmental landscape surrounding the sites. A key priority is to promptly develop a plan to upgrade the road to Dinh Mountain, ensuring safe access for locals and tourists visiting the historical site for remembrance and sightseeing purposes.
