BTO - Cau Ngu festival in Phu Quy island district is extremely important in Phu Quy fishermen’s  religious beliefs. It has been established from worshiping the Nam Hai God (the Whale God). The fishermen believe that the Whale God will bring them safety in their fishing trips and wealth, prosperity for the whole village. Thus, after Tet holiday, the fishermen, every year, organize Cau Ngu festival to wish for their safety and luck in the new fishing season.

Besides rituals: welcoming the god,  the offering of food and objects, wishing speech, some performances are Ba Trao singing, lion dace, traditional activities… As known, Phu Quy fishermen caught 27,300 tons of seafood last year. In 2017, they hope to reach 27,500 tons.
