Overseas Vietnamese celebrate Chol Chnam Thmay festival in Cambodia

The General Association of Vietnamese Cambodians (GAVC) held a ceremony to celebrate the Cambodian traditional New Year Festival Chol Chnam Thmay in Phnom Penh, on April 7, which attracted more than 200 Vietnamese Cambodians.

The event also saw the presence of Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Vu Quang Minh and Secretary of State at Cambodia’s Ministry of Cults and Religions Nhem Valy, along with several Vietnamese investors in Cambodia.

Secretary of State at Cambodia’s Ministry of Cults and Religions Nhem Valy sent his best New Year wishes to the Vietnamese Cambodians, while expressing his hope that the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia would be strengthened.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Vu Quang Minh also wished Cambodians and the community of Vietnamese Cambodians a traditional New Year of success, peace and happiness.

Ambassador Minh thanked the authorised Cambodian agencies for creating favourable conditions for overseas the Vietnamese people and business community in Cambodia to live and work, contributing to the development of Cambodia.

He emphasised the consistent policy of the Vietnamese Party and State which always attaches much importance to the overseas Vietnamese who are an inseparable part of the Vietnamese community.
At the ceremony, the participants were offered special dishes from Vietnam and Cambodia, as well as song and dance performances by artists from both countries.
