| Da Nang Open Paragliding Championship kicks off |
The competition has attracted the participation of over 100 fliers from domestic clubs and other countries, such as the Republic of Korea (RoK), South Africa, the US, the UK, Australia and Laos.
As scheduled, the male and female pilots will race from the top of Son Tra Mountain (693m above sea level), which is considered as the most beautiful flying destination in Vietnam. The pilots and visitors will have the chance to contemplate the beauty of the mountains and Da Nang city from the panoramic view.
During the opening ceremony, the local people and visitors also had the opportunity to enjoy a unique paramotor performance.
Paragliding is a recreational and competitive sport that first took off in the country over 10 years ago.
Da Nang city also hosts an annual paragliding event to attract tourists during the summer holidays.
In 2012, the coastal city hosted the International Paramotor Race, which drew thousands of spectators.
