The contest, co-organized by the standing office of the central steering committee for natural disaster prevention and control (directly under the Vietnam Disaster Management Authority (VDMA) - Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the Central Council of Young Pioneer, aims to educate children about the human impacts on the environment, provide them with knowledge and skills of natural disaster risk reduction. The event is an opportunity for Vietnamese children from 10 to 15 years old to promote their creativity, show their opinions and dreams about the fight against natural disasters and climate change. Children are the most vulnerable to natural disasters both physically and mentally. Those of the ethnic minorities ares are eventually the most heavily affected due to poor sanitation conditions and less caring from adults and language barriers.
