Vice chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Hoa, leaders of Department of Culture-Sports and Tourism, along with representative leaders of other departments, agencies, organizations, local residents and many tourists also attended the festival and shared the joy of the Cham people.
This festival is annually celebrated by the Cham Balamon people in Binh Thuan to commemorate and pay respect to their ancestors, pray for good weather, bumper harvest , the harmony and growth of human and living beings. Kate Festival is also the best opportunity for the Cham people living across the country to return to their native places for family reunion. Through many periods of time, the festival has been preserved by the Party and State as one of traditional activities imbued with valuable cultural characters of ethnic groups in Binh Thuan province. All rituals, such as opening the tower’s gate, bathing the altar of Linga-Yoni, dressing the costume of Po Sha Inu Goddess, and celebrating the Kate festival in front of the main tower… were performed in accordance with inherent customs of the ancient Cham culture. Joining the festival, which takes place from September 29 to 30, visitors also have fun with a series of cultural and sporting activities, as follows: performance of Cham traditional music instruments, weaving brocade, making pottery, folk games…
