The contest, took place from September 18 to October 2, 2020 in the five provinces/cities of Ho Chi Minh City, Dak Lak, Vinh Phuc, Thanh Hoa and Ha Noi, was co-organized by Department of Performing Arts (Ministry of Culture-Sports and Tourism) and Vietnam Musician’s Association, with the registration of 650 contestants from 35 art groups across the country.
At the ceremony, 8 first prizes of Solo category and 19 first prizes of Orchestra category were presented. In which, a repertoire performed by artist Thanh Phap, Van Truc and the orchestra of Bien Xanh Music & Dance Troupe from Binh Thuan province won the first prize in Ochestra category while artist Van Truc brought home a second prize with a solo performance with Saranai trumpet (a Cham musical instrument).
Reportedly, repertoires predicated at the competition are expected to be performed at the upcoming Kate festival 2020 and other music events in Binh Thuan with the purpose of disseminating preserving and promoting traditional music of ethnic groups in Binh Thuan.
