Binh Thuan triumphs at Kedah, Malaysia dragon boat race 2017

BTO – This is the second time, Binh Thuan (Vietnam) has won championship at the Kedah international dragon boat race in Malaysia for two consecutive times, held from May 3-7th at MADA dam, Tangjung Chali, Alor Setar, Kedar. 

With the participation of 6 international teams from Brunei, Thai, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Vietnam and the host Malaysia, the race covers a distance of 1,000 meter in disciplines for Men’s team of 18 players (including 1 drummer, 1 boat-steerer and 16 rowers). The team participants must draw lots for 3 tables of qualifying rounds in choosing for the semi-final and final rounds. Apart from the international race, the host also held a similar race for over 600 domestic players from 20 teams.

During 3 days of drastic competition (from May 4-6), Binh Thuan (Vietnam) team has defeated Thai, Brunei teams at the qualifying rounds and excellently outdone the Indonesia and the host at the final rounds. With outstanding performance of 4 minutes and 15 seconds, Binh Thuan won the first prize (worth 10,000 ringgit-RM, an equivalent to VND 50 million), followed by the Indonesia with 4 minutes and 24 seconds and Malaysia with 4 minutes and 35 seconds.

On the occasion, Binh Thuan boosted ties and cooperation with the host in terms of knowledge and skills in prevention of drown for tourists playing water sport in Binh Thuan province in the upcoming time.
