The championship, open to all, will allow international racers to compete through innovative race formats like the Pulsar (compact slalom, America's Cup style) and Marathon (long distance). Courses will be set up in a way that the on-shore audience can enjoy the racing. This is the first time Vietnam hosts such international championships in Quang Nam province.
Two athletes: Truong Ky Tai and Tran Thi Kim Chi, from Windsurfing Jibe’s Beach Club (in Ham Tien, Binh Thuan) will represent for the host country to compete in Windsurfing championship.
According to Mr. Pascal Lefebvre, head of Jibe’s Beach club: “We are very happy as our members can participate in this large-scale competition. This opens opportunities for Binh Thuan’s sport to confirm its position in national and international competition.” As known, windsurfing was founded and developed in Binh Thuan in 1999.
The competition has attracted 51 athletes from 15 countries and territories: Algeria, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thai, Taiwan, Australia, Portugal, Nigeria, China and Vietnam. Remarkably, the championship will be graced by the presence of a renowned female title-holder from Spanish: Manchon Blanca.
