According to the report of Binh Thuan department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in 2012, Binh Thuan tourism sector has reached a revenue of VND 4,358 billion and welcomed more than 3.141 million turns of visitors including 341,160 turns of foreigners, a year-on-year increase of 13.5%. The brand name of Binh Thuan sea tourism has gradually confirmed its foothold in domestic as well as international markets.
Binh Thuan tourism sector does not only remain its position of a national tourist urban area, but it also creates some new breakthroughs such as: revenue growth (30%), an average increase of tourist arrivals from 12% to 20%. Mui Ne- Phan Thiet is becoming “a paradise of relaxation” of international tourists and a “Russian village” in Viet Nam because the Russian tourists usually account for 30% of the total number of yearly international visitors. The strategy to develop Binh Thuan tourism up to 2020 has emphasized the target of attracting 4.5 million of turns of visitors to Binh Thuan by 2015 (500,000 turns of international tourists) and reaching a turnover of over VND 7,500 billion, loosening tourists’ purse-strings and attracting visitors to Binh Thuan more often and staying here longer.

Another new breakthrough of Binh Thuan tourism is calling upon big investment projects to be an evermore attractive destination. Additionally, the provincial authorities always give preferential conditions and invite investors to build Mui Ne to be a center of international sea sports basing on its own potential, and focus onimproving the comprehensive quality of Ham Tien – Mui Ne area. Moreover, the province has also created favorable conditions to magnetize big projects, combinations of entertainment and tourism services, large-scale and high-quality recreation. Along the coastline of Phan Thiet city alone, series of large-scale projects of both area and investment capital have been promptly under construction and then put into business operation.
Also, the tourism section has also achieved another breakthrough in tourist products development, especially favorable tourist products such as sea relaxation and sport, cuisine, culture, shopping and high-class recreation. Moreover, Binh Thuan has been implementing various positive and comprehensive solutions to develop diversified types of tourist products, attach importance to exploiting unique, attractive and prominent tourism resources of the locality to create specialized tourist products along with high-grade relaxation types, sea sports and traditional festivals.
According to the strategic planning for Viet Nam tourism development by 2020 of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mui Ne- Binh Thuan has been determined as a national tourist centre so that it can be further invested in construction and infrastructure, strategic planning and brand name promotion. Likewise, Phan Thiet – a today national key tourist city has also been orienting towards sustainable green tourist city. One of the measures to conduct tourism development planning is environmental protection and sustainable development. Since October 2012, the number of Russian tourists registering Mui ne- Phan Thiet tour has continuously increased and this volume is expected to be remained unchanged until summer 2013.
