Binh Thuan honors People’s Arisan, Meritorious Artisans in preserving, promoting intangible cultural heritage

BTO-The provincial department of Culture, Sports and Tourism lately held a ceremony to announce State President’s decision on awarding the titles of People’s Artisan and Meritorious Artisan in the field of intangible cultural heritage in Binh Thuan province  (the 2nd edition).

Accordingly, Artisan Thuong Xuan Huu is the only one person who was honored as People’s Artisan in Binh Thuan for this time. He has made outstanding contribution to the  research and preservation of liturgical books and documents related to customs-habits, cultural characteristics of the Cham ethnic group. At the same time, 7 artisans were awarded the title of Meritorious Artisan. They are involved in various forms of folk performance. In which, working areas of 5 artisans are performing Southern amateur music and Cai Luong while 2 newly-awarded Meritorious Artisans are Cham people who are working hard  in performing, researching and instructing the use of Cham music instruments.

Up to now, Binh Thuan has one People’s Artisan and 15 Meritorious Artisans who have been honored for their contribution and achievements in preserving and promoting intangible cultural heritage in the locality.
